Melanistic bird. While waiting on the Verandah of the park Director's house a small black hawk appeared hunting through the bush a short distance away. At the time I identified it as a melanistic Ovampo sparrowhawk however I have since learned that melanistic gabars are much more common and after consulting the birds of Africa I'm convinced it must have been a gabar.
