La Grande aigrette est plus haut, au cou et bec plus long que l'Aigrette intermédiaire. En plus son trait commissural continue derrière son oeil, chez l'Aigrette intermédiaire ça s'arrête sous l'oeil.
Differs from Great Egret through it's somewhat smaller size, shorter neck, shorter bill, and that the corner of the mouth does not extend behind the eye.
